Fall weekend, part 3
To finish up a lovely fall weekend I took a second hike on Monday. For those of you non-New Englanders reading, Monday was Columbus Day so all state offices, including my college, were closed. After walking on the trail by the old mill (see post: Fall weekend, part 2), I was still craving more nature, more leaves, more fall. I headed back to the state forest I visited on my birthday though this time I brought my camera and it was just me. I hiked around for about two hours and loved every second of it. I really love to hike and it was such a beautiful day to tromp around the woods with my thoughts. An unexpected bonus was that there weren't many other people out - I didn't see anyone else on the trails I hiked - so when I had to (frequently) stop to deal with my runny nose no one was around to hear it. Did I still make a noise? :-)

This last picture wasn't taken on my hike. There's a road about a half mile from where I live that has some abandoned mills, some industrial areas and some random remodeling supply shops. I get such a kick out of this sign! The first time I saw the sign I thought "What sort of parts does the sky need? Are used parts ok to use on sky repairs? Why are they selling sky parts in my city?" I haven't been able to look at the sign any differently since that first time and it makes me smile every time I see it.
