cemetery

There is an awesome cemetery in my town! It's set in the side of a hill. The perspective is off so you can see it and then not see it from various points around town. This summer I became obsessed with this cemetery - I like old cemeteries a lot, they're so cool and peaceful - and dragged x all over my town looking for it (hello, patience of a saint). For a town as small as mine, it sure has a lot of cemeteries! On the hottest day this summer we found it and it does not disappoint. I went back yesterday with my camera:

You can see it from the bridge into town but it was kind of misleading as to where it was because of it's setting in the trees and the steepness of the hill:
It's set on a super-steep hill in kind of layers-like knolls within the hill:
Some of the gravestones are super old and are no longer legible. Others are falling over:
From the top of the cemetery, looking down:
Quite a view, eh?
Fall hasn't quite full come to my neck of the woods. Soon.
Yes, I've realized that I took like 12 pictures from the same angle - I just find the setting in the hill so fascinating!

View from the backside, even steeper from the front!
There's one other landmark in my town that I've only recently learned where it is. Once I find it I'll post pics. It's equally unusual in it's steep setting. Who said New England was flat??

  1. Good pictures! I still think it will be best when the leaves finally fall and the lay of the land makes more sense...

I'm curious to find out what the other landmark is now. I'm drawing a blank here.

  2. Only time will tell . . . ;-)
Here's a hint: it involved a hill and the color red.
