Lake George, NY

As I mentioned in a previous post I spent the weekend in Lake George, NY. Lake George is about a 5 hour drive from where I live, deep in the Adirondacks. It was my first time there and it was lovely. I had the most enjoyable kayaking I've ever had, swam in the warm waters of Lake George and saw a couple of really cool museums. It is getting late and I am tired so I'll just get to the good stuff. Here are the pics:

Lake George is 35 miles long and a mile or so across at its widest point. Calm lake kayaking = the best, most enjoyable kayaking I've ever experienced:
Along the shores of Lake George were some of the most amazing homes I've ever seen. I think this one was from "millionaire's row." Nice, huh? We took a short ferry ride around the southern end of Lake George. I am massively prone to seasickness so my pictures from the boat aren't that great.
We drove nearly two hours in the back woods of the Adirondacks on twisty, turny roads to get to the Adirondack Museum. Did I mention it was pouring rain and we saw no other cars the entire time? It was so worth it! The museum consisted of about 20 buildings, each with it's own theme - logging, boating, history, furniture, etc. They had a special quilt exhibit that I particularly loved. I've always always wanted to make a quilt! Some day, when I have space and time . . . I like the geometric pattern of this one:
I also liked the pattern of this one. Reminds me of autumn:
Adirondack furniture is not just those colorful chairs you buy from LL Bean!:
After my run on Sunday morning I went down to the water just in time to catch the sunrise. It poured the day before so the fog was burning off and the clouds were just starting to lift. I like the way this picture came out:
Looking toward the southern end of Lake George. Lake George supposedly had about 120 islands but I only saw a small part of the lake so I couldn't count each one individually. The picture above and this one were taken on the same day and the same time. Weather changes pretty fast up in the mountains!:
All in all, a lovely trip, though next time I am staying at a different motel!!! (loooong story)
