DC, Day 1

I am in DC for a conference. I got in early this afternoon. So far, so good. At the airport I ran into an old swimming friend from SoCal. She and her family were doing a 10 trip of DC, NYC and VA. After checking in I went for a long walk down to Dupont Circle. My hotel was a great bargain but kind of off the beaten track (but right on the subway). I thought I'd spend some time wandering around and then maybe getting to bed at a reasonable hour. My plans changed as I was walking and I heard someone call my name. It's not like my name is the most common name in the book so it had to be for me. It was a work colleague and his partner having a late lunch/early dinner! In DC! To be fair they live in VA when X isn't teaching. They told me that it was Gay Pride week in DC and there would be a parade through Dupont Circle in a couple of hours. I had never been to a Gay Pride parade before so I was kind of psyched! I know some people come to DC to see the museums and the monuments. Not me. I like to come to DC to see men dance around in their underwear:
