25 (different) things

There's a "25 things" meme going around Facebook. I am posting a slightly different version here. It's an interesting concept and it was kind of hard to think of just 25 things to share with others. And which 25 do you pick??? I apologize to my two (?) readers who are also on fb for the duplication - I am running lot on blog topics. Here are mine 25 things:

1. I have never owned a hairdryer and haven’t a clue how to use one. Ditto for most make-up.

2. If I didn’t wear lipstick I would chew on my lips until they bleed. I like red lipstick.

3. It bothers me that my family is shrinking and we are so worried about being too much in each other's lives that we're not in each other's lives at all.

4. Organized religion scares the shit out of me though I am obsessed with nuns. I am probably going to hell when I die but I suspect I'll have some fun company. I like a good party.

5. More than anything I would like to sit on a jury for jury duty. The closest I got was being summoned to the criminal courthouse in downtown L.A. I sat in a window-less hallway for 2 days before they dismissed the case. I read 3 novels while waiting.

6. I have a very active imagination. As a child I used to make up stories and tell strangers about life with my 3 husbands and 40 cats living on a houseboat in Pennsylvania. I am well past my prime for marrying, am horrifically allergic to cats and am prone to seasickness.

7. I believe in love. I wonder if I am too old to find love. I worry that I missed my chance at love.

8. I am unapologetically boy crazy.

9. I actually enjoy interviewing for jobs.

10. My dream jobs all involve traveling, writing or being outdoors. Librarian isn't on the list.

11. I speak some Japanese and some French. When I can't remember the word in one language I always come up with it in the other. It has always bothered me that I am not fluent in a language. I am considering going back to school for it.

12. I am a proud chocoholic. On more than one occasion I have eaten chocolate for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks followed by ice cream for dessert.

13. I am very lucky that not only do I have a fairly good metabolism but I really like exercise and don’t think twice about running, biking, hiking, walking, dancing, swimming etc the entire day. I like to be active and in motion.

14. There is nothing more delicious than taking a nap in the middle of the afternoon.

15. I am thinner now than I was in high school. I still wear my shorts and dresses from high school even though they are kind of out of style. I wish I still had my dress from my 8th grade dance and my acid wash jeans from high school. I would love to have an opportunity to wear my prom dress from junior year again.

16. I am a better cyclist than runner but I love running so much more. If I've lived in your city I've probably run by your house at the crack of dawn while you were inside fast asleep.

17. I am a morning person. I like seeing the world just before the sun comes up. It's so peaceful. I don't like to stay up late.

18. I've driven across country once by myself. It was one of the best trips of my life. I took a back road through New Mexico and almost crashed my car because I was too busy pretending to be Thelma and Louise to pay attention to the road.

19. I hate to drive short distances or to drive around town but I love to drive for 300, 400, 500+ miles at a time.

20. I am afraid of squirrels.

21. I do not like any photographs of myself unless I am wearing pink, blue, purple or red hair. If I could I would wear a different disguise every single day (for fun).

22. I know the punch line to a lot of dirty jokes but I can never remember the rest of the joke. I am the fool who asks if you've heard the joke by telling you the punch line.

23. I have a 3" blue titanium plate and 6 screws in my right elbow. My elbow cracks about 200 times a day. I have the xrays to prove that I have a screw loose.

24. I have a very keen sense of smell. Smelling other people's food almost always makes me want to vomit. Thinking about food sometimes makes me nauseous and thinking about other people eating sometimes makes me nauseous.

25. I consider myself an optimistic cynic.
