UCI Track Championships!

The UCI Track Championships were at the Velodrome this weekend. I went on Saturday night and it was awesome!! Here are some of the better pictures:

Netherlands's men's team in the team sprint. I love the bikes the teams from the Netherlands's ride!!

Keirin. The guy in black leading the pack is riding a mechanized bike. He speeds up incrementally over the first 5 laps and then the pack lets loose and sprints for the finish over the last 3 laps. This was the first time I've ever seen the Keirin and it was really interesting!

Men's scratch 15km. For 80 (?) laps they sprint and jockey for position. First one to the finish lines wins. This is considered the most "pure" of the track events. The distance guys hope to outlast everyone else and the sprinters lead various attacks. It is a wild and really fun race to watch - never a dull moment!

Getting ready to start the women's team sprint. I think it's just two laps? The women sprinters are incredible! Very powerful - check out those quads!
